Government is government is government. I hate to be constantly whining about how there’s little difference between the two major parties because I don’t want to sound like an unhinged crackpot, like someone’s flaky great-aunt who keeps all her money in an old Folger’s can in the back of the pantry.
But, really, the two major parties are very much the same now. They’ve both become interested solely in purchasing continued incumbancy, and any governance which may or may not occur is incidental.
Proof positive comes in this article by Bill Hobbs which I found via this article from Volunteer Voters.
Hobbs writes on behalf of the Tennessee Republican Party, and wants us to know what a slacker the governor is. Apparently, Bredesen is evilly hording all of the state’s water to drown TennCare recipients and flush the Predators to Canada. Or something. But–and thank goodness for this!–it’s Republican Bob Corker to the rescue!
Republican U.S. Sen. Bob Corker did – and he helped Orme secure a $377,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to pay for a new water lifeline that will connect the people of Orme to the Bridgeport, Alabama, water system.
“When the people of Orme needed help, Republican leaders like Sen. Corker stepped forward,” Hobbs said. “Phil Bredesen’s grand-standing on the Tennessee River issue doesn’t make up for his failure over the past five years to address the rising tide of water infrastructure needs in this state.”
As much as I’d like to believe that U.S. Sen. Bob Corker (R) is a hero who, like Moses in Sinai, can strike a rock to make water, all Corker did was use the Federal Government to compel funds by force from the citizens of the United States which he then “generously” provided to Orme, Tennessee.
Just make sure you remember that when it comes time to vote.
