You know, when you start having nightmares about Bob Krumm sending you newspaper clippings, John Hutcheson firebombing your house and Aunt B. taking your dogs into foster care that means that blogging might be too intense.
I was having fun writing over at Nashville is Talking. If there’s something I believe in, I’ll go to great lengths to keep it alive. That’s just my personality. The reasons for my leaving are well-chronicled over at Music City Bloggers. But I will say that I left with no ill will toward WKRN and with nothing but fond feelings toward the NiT blog itself.
Then their new guest blogger–who I assume is an employee of the station–featured a picture of a drowned cat (I go by “Kat” in case you missed it.) in their inaugural entry. I’m not generally overfussed about much, but that I considered a slap in the face.
Most of this is supposedly rolling of my back, but I will say that about all I dreamed about last night were angry bloggers and evil clown babies. (Two separate dreams, but both scary.)
If it makes you feel any better…I didn’t make any connection between you and the drowned cat picture. Now maybe I’m just dense? But it didn’t even occur to me, just thought it was the latest in the recent long line of lolcat pics. I thought it was completely bizarre but when I saw your comment over there I sort of wondered why you felt personally insulted. *shrug*
Then it’s probably me just being waaaay too sensitive.
It seems that the current writer at NiT is going out of their way to make snarky comments and connections to most everyone who has participated at all over there. Rather childish on their part.
I was really hoping for more comment driven content and the types of “read this” and “notice this” entries that made NiT an informative and interesting aggregator site in the first place.
The current nosepicking, misspelling and name calling does not interest me in the least. Much like the content degeneration in the Scene over the last year.
to clarify–I didn’t mean to suggest you were being hyper-sensitive…only meant to try and encourage you 🙂
I think it’s fun to compare and contrast NemesisGirl’s antics at NiT, the GM’s corporatebabble statement about the future of NiT, and the monthly, weekly, and daily statistics on the NiT sitemeter. This is because I am both a geek and nasty-minded.
Kat,
I am with Amy that I never thought there was a connection between the photo and you. I thought it was about the link directly above it that went to a LOLcat.
I do not think you are being overly sensitive either.
🙂
Eww. Evil clown babies.
I thought what NemesisGirl did was classless, but even more classless of WKRN to endorse that type of snark when supposedly they want to move it to the next step.
If the next step is NemesisGirl, WKRN will need to backstep while trying to sidestep their misstep.
I didn’t get the connection either, Katherine, and I agree with you and even posted this weekend over there that I really appreciate what NiT has done.
It’s evolution is obviously concerning me because what was a place I have often felt welcome in felt very odd for a couple of days.
AG is over there now. Maybe she can balance it out.
And what you’ve done over at MCB has been quite wonderful.
Sending you good thoughts.
I didn’t get the cat/Kat connection either but I can see how you could get there with all that had previously gone on and other stuff that can’t be metioned.
even more classless of WKRN to endorse that type of snark – yeah, well since when has WKRN ever shown any type of interest in NiT regarding content?? They didn’t speak up during the Unfortunate Incident of ’07 and that was entirely due to content and “snark” in a post title. It’s obvious to me that the powers that be at WKRN really don’t care what direction NiT takes.
My gut feeling is that Nemesis Girl is CG.
