Over on Facebook, this one guy I follow posted a “funny” picture. He is over in London and found a product marketed in the UK by Olay(R). It’s some type of cleaning product called “Fairy”, the slogan is “We’re behind you all the way.”
Now anyone can see why 13yo boys, Beavis, Butthead and the occasional baked wastoid would chuckle at that.
The problem is that this guy is an elected official. (Here’s where I admit that I have lost track of whatever he’s elected for now. I just know he’s in office and that people, mysteriously, keep voting for him.) He’s mocking people that he is paid to represent.
How is that not a bad idea?

He didn’t look closely enough, or he would have found more to snicker about. Because in the UK (and pretty much everywhere except the US) it’s Ulay (pronounced yoolay), not Olay. They changed it for us because everyone here is a 13yo boy, Beavis, or Butthead.
And I’ll bet that Mr. Elected Official does not consider that he represents gays, on the grounds that he’s the kind of guy who makes fun of them, so they don’t vote for him. The idea of representing everyone in one’s area including those who voted for one’s opponent pretty much goes by the wayside these days. On all sides.
