I have said over and over again in many places (though I guess not this blog, since I can’t find an archived entry to link to) that whenever logos are being chosen by committee, that committee will always vote on the most phallic option.
Note, if you will the thrusting shaft of the d as it penetrates the gap between the t and the n. Note also the orbs of the d and p serving nicely as testicles.

Now please don’t take offence, all you Democrats out there. I love a lot of you personally. It was, in fact, a Democrat who first told me about the logo–seeing as I’m not in the habit of reading the TNDP blog on any sort of basis at all.

I’ve blogged about a similar example:

See! It’s true! Phallic logos are everywhere.
Ironically, though, the Obama Logo everyone is so in love with is a lot more vaginal, what with the O and the folds of red…
Still, nothing beats OGC

Kat, there is a term for vaginal logos, “yonic”.
A neat tidbit of information I picked up as Belmont U was reworking their logo and trying to figure out how to work in the bell tower. (Possibly a perfect mix of phallic and yonic concepts in one seriously repressed Southern Baptist logo)
Makes sense, since “Yoni” and “Lingam” mean “Vagina” and “Penis” in some language I can’t remember.
I just remember learning that at the height of Yanni’s popularity and when he released Live At The Acropolis I just pictured a giant singing vagina.
Not that I’m weird or anything.
I didn’t recall any yonic logos other than the Obama one, so I looked it up. Hilarious

I want to see a Yonic logo mockup for the TNDP. Go ahead. Have fun.
Geez, I hope that the ‘dp’ at least bought the ‘tn’ some dinner first, took it out to a nice movie or something.
And since the DP has phalli going both up and down, is it two-faced or just ambidextrous?

Speaking of yonic — has anyone noticed the USPS papaya stamps? Makes you grin sheepishly when you lick them, like maybe the stamp artist and you have a little joke between you…

This is a perfect post and comment thread: bizzare, yet educational. Just wondering if the word “Yanni” is related to Yonic?

Rex, “Yanni” derives (through many intermediate steps, none connected to “Yoni” or “Yonic”) from Yochanan.
Well, if you really take it that far, any rectangle could be construed at phallic. I guess it just depends on where your mind is at.
Personally, I’d be more concerned with the T in TN looking like a Jesus Cross.
