Writers’ Advice
"Read, read, read. Read everything -- trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it. Just like a carpenter who works as an apprentice and studies the master. Read! You'll absorb it.
Then write. If it's good, you'll find out. If it's not, throw it out of the window."

The Big Picture

But of course….
These things must be done.
Yay, the internet is now complete
Kat, this dog is beautiful! Does he/she have any American Eskimo Spitz in him/her? This is exactly like the type of dog I envision myself getting after I move closer to work. So cute!!
Thanks, Megan!
Does he/she have any American Eskimo Spitz in him/her?
A whole lot. That’s what he is. ;-p
Ohhh I so want one of these. It’s between an American Eskimo and a Sheltie. Whichever one is easier to house break and won’t chew my stuff. Ha.
Well, they’re both smart as a whip and very easy to housebreak. They’ll also both chew–but only if they’re bored.
That’s the hardest thing to get people to understand about Eskies. They can be bored easily. (Quinn is right now running around behind my chair begging me to entertain him. He’s full of Clown Evil this morning.)
Of the two breeds, though, I’m prejudicedly partial to Eskies over Shelties because I think that Eskies are more intuitive companion dogs, whereas Shelties are better herders.
Yeah, with three cats I worry a little about a dog trying to herd them–but for the dog’s sake. We had a border collie when I was in high school and she got her ass kicked all the time for trying to herd the cats back into the living room.
I’m a sheltie fan. You shouldn’t have a problem with your sheltie trying to herd you cats if you (a) establish with the dog that the cats are part of the pack, and (b) give your dog a job to do (it can be something that is alot of fun for both of you, for instance, Shelties excel at agility training) so it doesn’t get bored.
Very lovely dog. Now I want one!
You can not have too many puppy pictures.
I think Quinn needs to hang out with Rosie the Ritalin Dog. She’s a Border-Spitz-Lord knows what mix. You see how she gets her name. Her life is complete now that she has Baby Fishmouth to herd and snorgle.
I love Spitzies. My babysitter used to breed them and sell them to very very good homes, and it was exciting (and also sad) to bring the puppies in from the kennels and bathe them in Avon baby soap and dry them off and powder them and get them ready to go to their new people.
I still think of puppy bellies whenever I smell Avon baby soap. Hee. Wet wriggly puppy bellies.
Ohmigosh, I forgot to say what a lovely pup Quinn is! Lovely lovely lovely! Mea cullpa.
Oh he’s a beauty, that’s a real beautiful Eskie how old is he?
Grandefille, thanks. I think he’s a beaut, but I’m biased.
Tovel, he’s 8.
